Dengue Fever Vaccination
A new dengue fever vaccination has been licensed in the UK. Dengue fever is transmitted by infected mosquitoes. The mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus bite during the day. The dengue virus is often found in tropical areas including:
- parts of Africa and Asia
- Central and South America
- the Caribbean
- the Pacific islands
- some southern areas of North America
There’s also a risk of getting dengue at certain times of the year (spring to November) in parts of southern Europe. More information on the dengue virus and the dengue virus vaccine can be found on the NHS website.
How does the service work?
The dengue virus vaccine is available from Kamsons pharmacy for £100 per dose. The vaccine requires two doses to complete the full course. Following the completion of the below form, our prescriber will review your questionnaire and, where appropriate, will send your chosen branch a prescription. We recommend contacting the pharmacy two days after completing the form to arrange your appointment to have your dengue virus vaccination administered.
