HPV Vaccine
The HPV vaccine protects against four strains of the HPV virus: 6, 11, 16 and 18. Most cervical cancers in the UK (70%) are caused by strains 16 and 18. Types 6 and 11 cause around 90% of genital warts cases.
There are many types of HPV, some of which are called “high risk” because they’re linked to the development of cancers, such as cervical cancer, anal cancer, genital cancers, and cancers of the head and neck. Other types can cause conditions like warts or verrucas.
Nearly all cervical cancers (99.7%) are caused by infection with a high-risk type of HPV.
How does the service work?
The HPV vaccine is available from Kamsons pharmacy for £160 per dose. The vaccine requires one dose to complete the full course. Following the completion of the below form, our prescriber will review your questionnaire and, where appropriate, will send your chosen branch a prescription. We recommend contacting the pharmacy two days after completing the form to arrange your appointment.
